PS3 hdmi cable

This cable does what it’s supposed to do and it does it well. I worked for Best Buy for quite some time as a home theatre salesman and so I understand that many stores can sell cables for $80 and make a $75 profit on certain cables. That being said, not all HDMI cables are made equally. I spent a lot of time around Monster cables and I must say this cable looks exactly, I mean exactly, like a Monster. In the item picture you can see a little recessed groove in the plastic head… well it just so happens that Monster Cables would have a little plastic jewel in that exact spot that would say “Monster Cable”. It’s also the same color and design. Granted the cable mesh is black, and I believe that Monster uses a blue mesh but this cable is related somehow in someway. Maybe Monster had an excess of caps and needed to sell them to some cheap knock off?

But regardless, the cable is high quality that you can feel. It has a feel of a Monster Cable thanks to the mesh that lines the cable. I’ve learned thru my time dealing with electronics that if you’re going to do any kind of fishing cables thru holes, that some sort of outside protection is almost a necessity. I’ve broken several HDMI cables in my time. If you ever bend a HDMI it’s toast, plain and simple. So for the extra bucks for this knock-off instead of a cheaper kind, you’ll appreciate the wire mesh that lines the entire length of the cable. This cable can still flex and maneuver so don’t be afraid that the mesh will hinder performance, it just keeps it from destroying itself with one untimely bend.

I use this cable on a 720p LCD with a PS3 hooked up to it and its a beautiful thing. Having a keen eye in the home theatre world I can tell you that for that kind of set up you won’t notice an iota of difference between this cable and a M class Monster cable. However enthusiasts looking to hook up your new Sony 52″ 240Hz, beauty to a top-of-the-line blu-ray player (nothing is better than the PS3 IMO) should look elsewhere. At that level you will notice a difference caused by degradation in the signal from this cable from outside interference. Another thing to keep in mind is that you really want to keep your HDMI cable as short as possible. The longer the cable, the more chance for signal degradation. I need this length for my current set-up and so do other people (otherwise this length wouldn’t exist). Some people may look at me now and ask, “But Aaron, can you really notice a difference?” And to be blunt – if your TV is worth its salt, then yes it will make a difference. I highly recommend investing in a high-quality (yes this means expensive) HDMI cable to hook up high-definition components to a main television that will used often. However if it’s a smaller set up (link in my case) than this cable its definitely sufficient.

Props to this cable. It’s well made. It does its job. If you just read this review and think that a cheaper cable is what you need. Then stop thinking and go ahead and order this.
