    Massive ripoff
People who say it is worth it either work for Monster and need you to buy their cable to justify their ridiculously insane executive salaries and bonuses, they work for a retailer…

While high end cables make a difference for analog signals (such as composite), the difference is far less with digital signals. In fact, digital signals arose mainly because they were not nearly as prone to noise, and small errors could be fixed with error checking. Thus, buying an expensive digital cable is a complete waste of money – the difference will be very slight (if noticeable at all), so save your money for some more games and buy a cheaper cable.

Not bad- not worth it either
While it is true monster builds a good qualitly product. It is way overpriced. I just bought a phillips high speed cable with the 24k gold and pure copper insides with metal…

I cannot believe the reviewer who wrote that resolution and color would be better with an expensive Monster cable. This is a DIGITAL SIGNAL. As such, noise would have to be extreme to switch an off signal to an on and vice versa. Let me make this simple for you – you don’t need this Monsterously expensive cable for the same reason you don’t need a Monster ATA/SATA cable for the hard drives inside your PC.

Still not convinced? Let’s look at the claims made by the advertising material:
    1) Duraflex protective jacket. Looks great with your PS3. To tell you the truth, I never even SEE the cable attached between my PS3 and my TV, nor is it ever on my mind. As for the greater durability and easier installation, the first is a straw man (you are going to subject said cable to what stress, exactly???) and the second is true of EVERY HDMI cable available in the world today.
    2) Dual strain relief, for repeated set up and tear down of the PS3. What, you’re so tired of you’re system that minute by minute you are disconnecting and reconnecting the cable on the back? How often do you anticipate having to plug/unplug your system, if at all?
    3) Silver content solder connections. Transfers delicate low level signals. Complete and utter bollocks. Either the signal transmits or it does not. That is the nature of digital.
    4) 24k Gold Contacts. Cuts down on the corrosion. Yep, I’m constantly replacing all of the ribbon cables and power supply lines inside my PCs because they are all corroded. Heh, if gold makes you feel better about getting fleeced, by all means buy Monster.
    5) Nitrogen Gas-Injected Dielectric Insulator. Beautiful, if you go for all that Star Trek technobabble. Inverse tacheon retrorefactor emulsifier anyone? This one maximizes your video strength for the best picture possible. But what have we learned so far? The signal is digital – it either gets through accurately or it does not. And unless the cable is poor beyond belief, noise is not even going to factor into the equation.

I’m sorry for the other fellow who defends the pricing of Monster cables. Do yourself a favor and call some local electronics stores/cable makers. This king has no clothing, and spending such a horrible sum will leave you looking very silly indeed.

Expensive cables for a digital signal are the worst sort of scam, and people who spend extra money for them are ignorant of the technology. For analog signals, cable-quality can vary your reception-quality (though not as much as people think). But digital signals transmit data in “1s” and “0s.” The “1s” and “0s” either get through, or they don’t. If they do get through, you have a picture (or sound). If they don’t get through, you DO NOT. With digital (unlike analog), you never have to WONDER whether you could, maybe, if only you’d spent a little bit more money, be getting a better result. If you see a picture, you know the “1s” and “0s” got through. If you see NO PICTURE, then your connection is loose, or your dog chewed through the line, or you have a bad cable. There is no in-between. The beauty of HDMI, the beauty if digital, is that you no longer have to wonder. How long will companies like Monster be able to keep this secret. Even worse, they are marketing this cable as “Sony Playstation 3 Monster Cable,” as if you needed a specific HDMI cable to work with the Playstation. Shame. You do want to take advantage of the HDMI cable for your Playstation. You don’t need to spend more than $15 on that cable though.

    Only Monster
Is there REALLY anything else to say here… If your not using monster cable equipment already than you better crawl out from whatever rock your under ask somebody.

Good or Bad? It doesn’t matter!
People are forgetting one crucial fact. It can be argued all day whether or not the quality/build of the cable affects signal quality (and it very likely doesn’t in this case),…

The only benefit of this cable is that you can laugh at those who buy it (just as long as it’s not you)
A friend of mine works at a large electronics retailer, and has a love-affair with Monster cables. In all fairness he praises their power filters and their surge protectors more…

Don’t get this, you can do better!
Overpriced for what you get. No need to pay Monster prices for a digital cable. Sony recommends using a cable rated for HDMI 1.

STOP WASTING YOUR MONEY ON MONSTER CABLES A TWELVE DOLLAR CABLE FROM CABLES TO GO IS DESIGNED TO PERFORM THE SAME FUNCTION AS A 100$ CABLE FROM RIP OFF MONSTERCABLE.

    Total Ripoff
The cable works as advertised. However you can purchase HDMI cables that perform 100% the same at about 1/20th of the cost.

Wow, expensive but no discernable difference…Bought this cable (paid almost $100) and tried it out at same time with $10 cable, made absolutely no difference.

    Rip-off!!!
Buying this cable is just like throwing money in the trash – cheap HDMI cables will do just as well as Monster.
